Usage statistics and this browser

Editorial Standard keeps aggregate usage statistics for this site: page views, approximate visits (a random per-tab id kept only in this tab’s session storage), referrer hostname, coarse device and browser family, the country Cloudflare reports for the request, and clicks on a report page’s own links. No raw IP address, user agent, full referrer, page address, account, token or text is stored, there is no cross-site tracking, and no third-party analytics service is used.

This browser: usage collection is on.

Off means: no page views, visits, link clicks or timing from this browser. Anonymous operational counts for every request (route family, status family and elapsed-time bucket, with no page, address, user agent or visitor dimension) are still recorded, because they measure the service rather than a visitor. Beacons are rate-limited through keyed hashes of the request address, kept only for the day; the address itself is never stored.

The choice is a first-party cookie for this browser only (it does not sign you in or out, and it does not change anything else). Clearing cookies resets it.
